A List I love

Posted in Endless Gifts with tags , , on Monday, November 16, 2009 by Becky

We had a  full weekend, family on my Dad’s side that we hadn’t met before came over on Saturday , we spent the day together, ate, talked and the children did some bow shooting, it was fun; My husband’s friend from Germany arrived yesterday at our home. So, my dear readers….that is why I am starting my list this late…

A list that I love, a list of gratitude, a list of endless gifts, every Monday.

I have been thinking as I see my children interacting with their friends, how much friends have  influenced my life. So today I want to give thanks to my Heavenly Father for the friends that have surrounded our lives in these past years. They have been with us day by day. We have walked together learning, loving, laughing, crying.

We have talked about our sins, His forgiveness; our dreams, our kids growing up, the life ahead…the hope we share. We have even talked about the ordinary, the plants in the greenhouse, our hair feeling like “straw”, the gingerbread lattes and the pumpkin  muffins. The wrinkles, and the joy of becoming older…hoping to be wiser.

Thank you, my Lord, for the friends that surround our home, help us to run the race together, with all diligence. encouraging one another to good works. To do what is pleasing in your sight. Not grumbling, or speaking what is evil, but only what is of good name, worthy of praise.

166. Thank you for our friends…all of them, in distant lands, or close to us.

Thank you for our friends

Gratefulness in the Valley.

Posted in A Song to Sing, Endless Gifts with tags , , on Monday, November 9, 2009 by Becky

It’s the coldest winter for my friend. She is enduring the frost on her soul. Nothing warms her spirit. It is all gray. Tears run and she doesn’t even notice them. But still she cries out… cries from a corner, the deepest corner of her soul, and I hear her say, “I know the Lord is good. He is faithful. I thank him because on his mercy He did not allow a greater storm.”

I pray to God and I ask him to give me grateful heart in the midst of the most terrible winters of life. In the valley of shadow of death. When nothing seems to be pretty. When doubts arise and it seems that the whole world is falling down. When sorrow and grief are so present that you can almost touch them.

A grateful heart, O Lord, give me a grateful heart.

Thank you for hope.

157. Thank you for giving us hope, and grace to endure.

Endless Gifts

Monday… You are my Light.

endless gifts

My life is a journey in which your Word alone lightens my path. Your Word has shone on me; your Word shows me where I am and where I should be. It is my compass.

Compass

I am lost without you, only your love can rescue me. Only your endless grace can save my life.

Without you I am like a ship without a rudder; lost, forever lost…dragged without mercy by all kind of winds, of deceptions, by my own feelings, by strong storms and quiet and deceptive tides.

Un barco perdido

133.Thank you for saving me, for calling my name, for reaching  towards me. I am alive and not drowned because it pleased you to give me life. Thank you…an endless times…

Monday, Let My Song Be Heard.

Posted in A Song to Sing, Endless Gifts with tags , , on Monday, October 19, 2009 by Becky

Reading my Bible, and studying Psalm 103, I found how David, raises his voice to let everyone know about the mercies and the goodness of God toward his own people.

It is all about remembering all of his benefits. It has been five weeks now since I started to keep a gratitude journal; I can see now how it has helped me (and my family, because we write a family gratitude journal together) not to forget all his benefits. It is great to look back and again be able to say: “Thank you, Father”

Calvin said, ” It is our own ingratitude which hinders us from praising God, not his lack of goodness toward us. Although he blesses us that we may praise him, our shameful listlesness buries in our hearts his innumerable benefits. The memory of them should cause us to praise”

And verse 13 of this Psalm mentions the starting point of  our gratitude list. “He forgives all my iniquity

And again, Calvin, says it clearly :

” …Reconciliation is the fountain from which all benefits flow”

He forgives me…every day…He forgives me! Thank you, O Lord.

113. Thank you for forgiving all my iniquities.

Thank you for dying for me.

Thank you for dying for me.

Bless the Lord,O my soul. Sing of  His mercies, of  His steadfast love forever.

Let my song be heard, daily on my way to heaven.

Monday, A Beautiful Day.

Posted in A Song to Sing, Endless Gifts with tags , , on Monday, October 12, 2009 by Becky

A beautiful day is always a day full of gratitude. Mondays are beautiful because some of us come and raise our voices to give thanks to the Only Worthy  to receive all glory and honor and praise.

Psalm 77:11-15

11″I will remember the deeds of the LORD;
yes, I will remember your wonders of old.
12I will ponder all your work,
and meditate on your mighty deeds.
13Your way, O God, is holy.
What god is great like our God?
14You are the God who works wonders;
you have made known your might among the peoples.

107. Thank you for our family’s gratitude journal.

Monday, the curtain rises, the pencils are sharpened, the excitment is here…

Gratitude Monday, praises flow from grateful hearts.

Let the earth know, let the nations be glad, let my soul sing a new song:  the Lord is good to His own.

The Lord has sustained us one more week, His hand has been over his people. How can I stop praising Him?

Let my gratitude prayer reach you, O God, hear my voice once more.

Let your people be glad, help us not forget your faithfulness, your mercies….that every good thing comes from above.

Thank you…

85. Lemons and limes…enough to share.
