Learning at Home

Well, obviously the Bible is our main inspiration here. Can we teach our children apart from God’s Word? No, no if we want them to love the Lord.
My other favorite books are this:
Come Ye Children. Practical Help Telling Children About Jesus
by C.H. Spurgeon
Oh, what a great liitle book. Full of insight and wisdom. A must!
When You Rise Up: A Covenental Approach to Homeschooling
by R.C Sproul Jr.
I read this book once a year (I have read it 3 or 4 times now!), usually in the summer. Great! Great! Great!
The Well Trained Mind: a Guide to Classical Education at Home
by Susan Wise Bauer
A must if you are pursuing a Classical Education. Actually this book is the one that introduced me to this wonderful journey. Thank you, Susan.
Recovering The Lost Tools of Learning: An Approach to Distinctively Christian Education.
by Douglas Wilson
You can not understand the value of Classical Christian Education without this book.
How To Read A Book
by Mortimer J. Adler and Charles Van Doren
I remember my little girl, asking me “Why read a book on how to read a book, if you already know how to read a book?”
The Case For Classical Christian Education
by Douglas Wilson

I don’t do any blogging….just lots of reading. Passionately Reformed and homeschool too, girl in 5th, boy in 2nd. Hadn’t seen the Come Ye Children by Spurgeon, will check it out. Love your site, will visit again. Inspiring! JBrower
