Sola Scriptura

How are we to teach our kids to stand firm in a Postmodern world, where everything seems to be so relative?  “Truth can not be known”, is what is heard out loud. Sadly this is so true even in our Christian world; it seems, at times, that “Christians” seem to follow “the gospel according to all.”

The only thing we can do is oppose this worldview, as true Christians have always done. Let’s raise our voice with courage and joy: “Sola Scriptura”; the Scripture alone. Let us be determined to be led only by God’s word. Let us build our worldview only upon the Word. It is the only way to stand firm.

It is safe.

The Bible is not a book meant to bring inspiration to our lives. It is meant to show us our sin, to show us the way to forgiveness, to bring life, to lead us daily on the way to heaven.

Either, we believe it all or not at all. We can not make up our own theology starting with only one Bible verse here and some other splashed in there. We must believe the Bible as a whole or we are not worthy to call ourselves Christians.

When I talk to my children about the things of life….am I teaching them “Sola Scriptura“? What does the Bible says about this particular issue? about friends?, dating?,what does it say about youthful passions?, family relationships?

The Holy Scriptures are sufficient.

I think about this, and my heart is just full of excitement. All Sufficient. Sufficient every day…Sufficient to teach me, to comfort me, to bring light.

All Sufficient…do I grasp the meaning? Do I believe this truth?

Sufficient to show us our sin, to show us the way to heaven, sufficient to help me grow in holiness.

Sufficient for my marriage.

Sufficient in the midst of sorrow.

Sufficient when I am a mom, a teacher or a friend.

All Sufficient.

Join me this week as I ponder through the meaning of the Five Solas of the Reformation daily on my way to heaven.

I just received this article by R.C. Sproul Jr, and found it interesting. I am sure you will like it as well.
