Rejoicing on Our Daily Tasks

It is all about routine,  getting up early, trying to manage a godly, beautiful morning devotional while thinking about the rest of our day. Our home school will start next Monday. We are all excited, our books are ready, so are our notebooks, summer reading is almost done and we all can feel the air of expectation…back to our routine.

“Mom, It is going to be a great year, I know it” Our Son N says. Our daughter AS can’t just wait, she is full of joy, and excited about the new friends she will meet through her online classes. She knows Logic II will be tough, but she also assures me  that it will remain her favorite subject. My oldest son S, will have lots of books to read and essays to write; he loves to do that. Physics is not what will make him the happiest but at least he loves his teacher and friends in that class. Our little Isb.  will start first grade, we are all excited for her; she is happy to see her new books and we will have lots of time to read together.  I am all excited as well, this will be my first time teaching online and the challenge makes me real happy. It looks like our school year will be a busy one…we are excited but deep in the depth of our hearts, we are afraid of going back to our routine, our daily tasks. I don’t want to lose the beauty of being with  my children, and not just around them. I don’t want to live feeling like our daily tasks are burden; I don’t want to catch myself complaining about our routine.

I have been studying the Psalms and found that there could be great rejoicing in our daily tasks. In Psalm 19 , David  reminds us that the creation gives glory to God  by doing the same thing again and again, century through century accomplishing the purpose of God on a daily basis; and it never complains.

The Sun comes out of his chamber as the bridegroom does to the most important day of his life, to do what it has done daily, for centuries. And this glorifies God. We went to the beach  and as I saw the ocean roaring and waves breaking on the rocks, I thought to myself  “Even the ocean glorifies God doing the same thing over and over, and it has never complained”. This is the reality, this is what I want to teach my children most of all this next school year: We can glorify God and rejoice in Him by doing our daily tasks, by living a holy routine, knowing that it is He who has determined the ways we should go day by day on our way to Heaven.
